An event worth blogging about!

Well, I know it has been ages since I have blogged, but I guess we finally had an event worth blogging about. My dear husband decided to get up in the attic tonight to fish some wiring down into the basement preparatory to sheetrocking and somehow managed to put his foot thru the ceiling in our hallway entrance right by the kitchen and living room. What a disasterous mess! Thank goodness he's okay and I don't even think I heard any swear words. We now have a 3 foot by 4 foot hole in the ceiling. He did manage to cover it up with sheetrock and I think we've got the mess pretty much cleaned up (4 hours later). For any of you who have built a house, you know the fine layer of dust that settles on everything, welcome to my house. We had it everywhere, from the doorway of Bailey's room to the other end of the hall, all in the kitchen, dining room and living room and into the entrance of our room and the mud room. The spots in the pictures are the dust particles in the air, kind of gross if you think about it. As the Peacock's would put it, definitely an adventure.

Seven Screaming Girls, One Chocolate Fountain and American Idol Finale=????

Bailey decided to have an American Idol Finale party last night with about 6 of her friends. Bart and I decided to go to dinner for a friend's birthday. I'm not so sure that was a good idea. Do you know what you get when you leave 7 screaming girls and a chocolate fountain to watch American Idol? Are you ready for this? Chocolate splattered on the wall and blinds. I am not talking about little tiny splatters here. It looked like they had dipped their pretzels and flung them in the air. We did laugh about it, but I still couldn't believe it. Bart cleaned it up while I drove everyone home, so I guess I really can't complain about it too much. Not sure I'll leave the house next time, but we'll have to see!

Am I evil?

So, last night I decided to take a look at my primary lesson for next week, but then I remembered that we are going to be out of town. Hooray! Am I evil for wishing I could be out of town every other week for a break or wanting every other week to be stake conference? I love those little kiddos, but it is a lot of work. I guess I just wish I had a helper, someone to help with bathroom breaks, gluing projects and lesson prep. I suppose I can just keep plugging along and wondering if I'm evil. hahaha!!!

Caught up at last!

So, I decided to take a day off of work and do whatever I wanted. So far, it has taken me about 2 hours to get caught up on everyone's blogs. I guess the housework might have to wait a while longer. ha ha! There hasn't been too much going on lately. Bart's work has been sporadic, but at least he has had some. I actually planned to take today off, go to the gym with Bart, go to lunch, and spend the day together, but he told me last night he had to work in New Harmony. Oh well, you have to take work when you have it these days. He did tell me that his friend Kelly called him to go fishing for today(before he knew he had to work) and he told him we had plans. I must rate pretty well for my husband to give up fishing (if you know Bart, that is his most favorite thing to do). Well, I'm off to start cleaning. Ta ta for now.

Good news!

Well, we received the best news (what I consider the best news) yesterday. The company Bart works for has secured a job in Cedar City. It's looking like he will only be out of work for about a month or so. What a relief! I asked him if we could go to dinner and he said yes as long as we didn't go overboard, but then I remembered that I had book club and he had already put chicken in the crockpot. I guess we'll have to save our celebration for another night. I also wanted to say thanks to everyone for making my birthday a special day! It's such a great feeling to know I have friends who care about me.

It's finally here....

Well, we've known that this was coming, but it's official, Bart has been laid off. We're hoping for a short-term layoff. He made me breakfast for my birthday this morning, is washing my car, changing the oil and getting the car inspected today. Too bad I can't make enough income for both of us, I could really get used to being so spoiled. It would be great if the honey do list could get worked on everyday. I actually hope that he can keep himself busy, because I know that he is such a workaholic that he will go crazy if it lasts for very long. Anyway, I hope we prepared ourselves enough for this. It's gonna be a fun ride!

Birthdays, birthdays, birthdays!

So, the last few days have had a few birthdays, my mom celebrated her birthday on Friday (don't worry mom, I won't reveal your age), my niece Angelee celebrated her birthday on Sunday and my sister-in-law Jolene is celebrating today. All three of them have touched my life for the better in different ways. I guess I should start with the first one, mom I hope you had a fabulous birthday. I love my mom and she is a great example to me. She has had a lot of trials in her life and has come through them with flying colors. There was a time in my life when I would have never imagined my mom being excited about receiving new scriptures for her birthday, you've come a long way mom! Next is my niece, Angelee, she is a true example of diligence and hard work. My sister has done a great job raising 4 girls by herself and Angelee has had a lot of obstacles to overcome. She earned a full ride scholarship to ASU and she knows what she wants out of life. I love you Leebop, hope you had a great day! Last, but certainly not least is Jolene, she is one of my best friends. I can talk to her about anything and she is one of the best moms I have ever seen. Her family means everything to her and she is a great example of what a mom, sister, daughter and friend should be. Jolene thanks for being there for me and I hope you have a fantastic birthday!
